UvA Alumni Chapter St. Petersburg

The festive launch of the UvA Alumni Chapter took place on the 19th of September 2014 at the Netherlands Institute in Saint Petersburg. Valeria Krzhizhanovskaya has been appointed Chair of UvA Alumni Chapter St. Petersburg.

A large group of alumni and friends of the UvA reconnected and met new friends or business contacts at the festive launch of the UvA Alumni Chapter St. Petersburg. The event consisted of a lecture and networking drinks and took place at the Netherlands Institute in Saint Petersburg (NIP), the academic centre aimed at increasing expertise in the field of Russian studies.

The future of Moscow

Special guest Zef Hemel, Professor on Urban and Regional Planning (Wibaut Chair) at the University of Amsterdam, gave a lecture on the transitioning city of Moscow. As a planning practitioner based in Amsterdam, Zef Hemel was involved in some major planning efforts in the Moscow region over the last years. In his lecture he shared his views on the future of Moscow, based on his theoretical thoughts of cities functioning as 'brains'.  

UvA Alumni Chapter St. Petersburg

Valeria Krzhizhanovskaya has been appointed Chair of UvA Alumni Chapter St. Petersburg. She will be supported by Olga Yusim, Nadezda Sinyutina and Victoria Denisova, who have been appointed as International Alumni Ambassadors. Chapter St. Petersburg will aim to organise at least two events per year.
